Educator Licensure
This section is only for those who have completed a degree or alternative teaching program and are looking to apply for a Colorado teaching license.
All Denver Public School teachers must be licensed by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). You can obtain licensure in one of several ways, including through alternative certification routes and reciprocity agreements. Please visit the Colorado Department of Education website to learn more about each type and which certificate you should pursue based on where you are in your career.
If you are certified in another state or country and are eligible to work in the United States, we encourage you to consider opportunities in DPS. The CDE is the best source for information on how to obtain Colorado state teaching licensure.
Content Exam
In order for you to receive licensure to work for Denver Public Schools, you must pass the PLACE (Program for Licensing Assessments for Colorado Educators) or the Praxis exam. For information on these tests and a schedule of exam dates, visit the CDE's website.
